Chambres à Part – Life is Beautiful

After more than 10 successful years in Paris, Laurence Dreyfus is delighted to announce the first edition of Chambres à Part in the United States. The exhibition will take place between the 28th November and the 3rd December, during Art Basel Miami in an original space located in the heart of Miami’s South Beach, a stone’s throw from The Bass Museum and walking distance from the Convention Center. The unique, 5-story building chosen as the venue for the installation is a quintessential representation of the show’s chosen host city, even featuring once in legendary 80’s TV series, Miami Vice.

This diametrically opposed setting to the Presidential Suite of the La Réserve Hotel on Avenue Gabriel on Paris’s Left Bank – where the original Small is Beautiful exhibition was hosted during FIAC this year – as well as the enticing atmosphere of Miami, inspired Laurence Dreyfus to dig deep and unearth new talents and discoveries for the occasion. An endeavor made possible thanks to her close relationships formed over the years with collectors, artists and international galleries of iconic oeuvres and contemporary artwork.

For this edition, the art advisor and curator has selected artists that come from different backgrounds and who work with a variety of materials. For example, the Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone who chose rough stone blocks as tools to create his large-scale sculptures. Other artists include young Argentinian artist, Tomas Saraceno, whose work is based on his ongoing research into the worlds of art, architecture, natural science and engineering, and British painter Cecily Brown, whose work is defined by its balance between the abstract and the figure.

Visitors will also be able to discover works by Mathew Day Jackson, Olafur Eliasson, Mark Hagen, Hernan Bass, Yohei Nishimura, Simone Pheulpin, Hélène de Saint Lager, and many more.
